We are Toby and Jerry, the founding directors of Hamlyn Smith. Put simply, we love property, are incredibly passionate about our business and believe we can provide a level of attention and service that is all too often missing in our industry.
Our experience is vast and has allowed us to develop extensive relationships and expertise whilst working for local and international property agents, developers and housing associations. With increasingly varied methods and routes into owning, acquiring and funding property, we are uniquely placed to advise and guide you through what can sometimes be an overwhelming array of options.
We do not want to just keep up to speed, we want to set the pace on what is expected from our role. Our myHamlynSmith app allows customers real time updates throughout the transaction process. We embrace virtual tours, digital campaigns, flexibility of process and we are pragmatic about how we approach fee structures.

During my school days, not only did I meet Toby, but after a week’s work experience at a local agency my lifelong career in property was born. Having caught the bug, I went on to broaden my experience with roles in agency, property development and a major housing association operating across London and the South East.
As one of four siblings, it is no surprise that I am never happier than when surrounded by people. Combined with my passion for property, it was inevitable that one day Hamlyn Smith would be created.
As a lifelong Brighton and Hove Albion supporter, my weekends are often spent at the Amex Stadium. Between watching the footy or playing golf, you’re most likely to find me enjoying everything our city has to offer with my wife Lucy or on uncle duties with Charlotte and Alfie.
Having honed my craft at market-leading local and international property agencies, launching an estate agency felt like the natural next step. I have over 15 years’ experience working across property and financial services, and I could not be prouder to have co-founded Hamlyn Smith.
Born in Brighton, raised in Steyning and now living by Hove Park, I have a very close affinity to the local market and surrounding areas. From parks and pubs to five-a-side pitches, I like nothing more than building up a broader neighbourhood picture for my clients.
Never afraid of a challenge, Hamlyn Smith was established shortly after the arrival of my first son. Life outside of work centres around my family, our miniature Dachshund Frankie, the golf course and anywhere combining close friends, great food and cold beer.
For the last 15 years I have worked in management roles, looking after properties both in the UK and abroad. I have a passion for working with people; throughout my career I have worked in customer service based roles, so combined with my love of property and all things admin, when the opportunity arose to become office manager for Hamlyn Smith it felt like a perfect fit.
I have always been organised, both at work and in my home life; everything has a folder and I love a ‘To Do’ List. When I’m not in admin mode, I love nothing more than discovering a great local restaurant, getting stuck into a good book or chilling out with my husband and our rescue cat Pedro.
Through another agent, my mums property sat on the market for 5/6 months with no promise of selling. After instructing Hamlyn Smith, within a couple of days Jerry & Toby had met with my mum, toured the house, advised on some re-arrangements, professional pictures were taken, and it was straight back on the market. Within 7 days an open house was held and we had an offer. Not only did these guys sell my mums house super quick, they found her the dream property she was looking for!
